  • Chris Dyer - Director Bidwill + Build

    Chris Dyer - Director

Chris loves nothing more than a creative challenge.
He has been a builder on commercial and residential projects for the last 21 years. Chasing high-end creative projects around rural New Zealand for almost a decade and settling in Matakana 11 years ago. Chris is passionate about making people's lives easier and less complicated. Nothing seems to bother him except inefficiency.

Chris coordinates multiple professionals and sub-consultants to create a cohesive and successful team around him. It is Chris’ business acumen and drive that is propelling Bidwill Design and Build on to become one of Matakana’s best known and most loved businesses.

A sharp-witted sense of humour and high levels of cheekiness can bring laughter to anyone. He comes up with new ideas all the time; if only there was more time to implement them all. Otherwise, he loves pottering on the land, spending time with his wife and son, and cooking.

  • Mike Petre Spatial Designer Matakana

    Mike Petre - Spatial Designer

Mike heads up the Design arm of the business. Unable, or unwilling to separate Art, Interior Design, Architecture and Landscape has seen his practice Mike Petre Design (MPD) expand and prosper over the last 20 years. He’s connected with many of the district’s most iconic buildings and spaces.

Since 2017 MPD has worked alongside Bidwill Design + Build as well as an extended group of 'craftspeople' (metal, wood, stone, plant) who all have the desire to work on projects that offer something very special to each individual client. The result is always a considered response to the environment in which it exists whether that be urban or rural, commercial or residential, always held together with a thoughtful approach to materiality and detail.

Mike is well known throughout the district as a friendly and laid back character, but he’s equally respected for his rare talent for design, practicality and passion for creating amazing spaces. Some designers live inside their own heads, Mike is hand-on and living in the real world.
